The Singapore Indian Education Trust ("SIET") has thus far been committed to helping needy and deserving young Indian Singaporeans advance in their education, by providing them with financial assistance. Needless to say, many who have benefited from the bursaries, study loans and scholarships awarded by SIET, are doing well in their lives today.

In this new economy and age of information explosion, however, one cannot afford to be complacent and continue to believe that the mere attainment of paper qualifications can lead to success in one's life. SIET has been keenly alive to the many changes in the landscape and has actively looked at further ways in which it can be of assistance to young Indian Singaporeans in their personal and career development beyond the provision of financial aid.

CONNEXUS is a welcome initiative of the SIET towards promoting a holistic perspective of education for our Indian youth. CONNEXUS aims to offer a platform for young Indian tertiary students to network with working professionals and gain vital life skills for their overall personal and career development outside the confines of the classroom. Effective networking, as we know, is an essential part of building a successful career. Through its Mentorship programmes, CONNEXUS further aims to bring together a group of Indian professionals from the various fields to act as a key resource pool for our Indian youth to tap into.

As part of its objectives, CONNEXUS will also conduct professional seminars and workshops, which are tailored to suit the needs of tertiary students. Through such events, CONNEXUS hopes to impart the necessary skills that will enable our Indian youth to excel in today’s ever-changing workforce.

Annually, CONNEXUS hopes to organise a mega event, which will showcase the talents of our Indian youth and at the same time help raise funds for SIET.

The pioneer CONNEXUS team comprises of a group of vibrant young professionals who include ex-SIET study loan recipients. Together with SIET, CONNEXUS will strive to nurture a dynamic group of successful young Indians who will play a key role in the betterment of the Indian community in Singapore.
