After a 2 -year bachelor’s course at RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia, I attained a first class honours degree. It is this tool that made it possible for me to gain entry into the aviation industry in Singapore. Currently with Singapore Technologies Aerospace, I work as a Technical Service Engineer dealing with Airbus A320 and Boeing B737 planes. Prakash Anandan
In lieu with SIET’s concept of “paying it forward”, I aim to extend SIET’s vision for the Indian community by steering technical minded youths towards the world of aviation. It is an industry that is both dynamic and demanding. Plans to organise familiarisation flights for individuals who are seeking a flying career are in the pipeline. It is a profession that demands individuals with high standards who take pride in their work and exhibit responsibility, good judgement and professionalism. Besides flying, the other aspect of aviation is maintenance. With the emergence of long range aircraft such as the Airbus A380the mammoth icon of the industry and the upcoming Boeing 787 dream-liner, several airlines throughout the world have made large orders for these aircraft. Hence fleet growth needs to be paralleled with crew growth. A large pool of engineers, technicians, cabin crew and ground crew is needed. The familiarisation flight project shall raise awareness of the potential growth of the industry.
